I have always loved Birmingham, the city I was born in. With its different cultures interacting in their everyday lives, each one with a mission, going forward to meet their daily challenges, full of life and colour. The city vibrates with its traffic and buildings, its parks and canals.
Now the city is changing, the architecture reflecting the future of things to come. This is why it is important for me to capture the changes in different media – e.g. oil, watercolour and charcoal. For me it is a very exciting time to see the new colour, materials and styles of architecture. However, it is all happening very quickly. Old buildings are disappearing, making way for the new and we soon forget what was there before.
My work is about showing the old and the new – and the people that live in our city.
