Something is wrong. In Workcrate, I wish to examine this phenomenon. I may not have any easy answers, but the aim of the piece is to confront people’s relationships to their work (or lack of it) and to ask themselves what is really happening when they ‘clock-in’.
People today talk of a ‘work life balance’ – the very fact that this phrase has been coined suggests that something is ‘out of balance’. With all the technology at our disposal, our working lives should be simpler and easier but, given our constant talk of ‘stress levels’, this is clearly not the case.
